What is a guillotine glass system?
How glass panels that move up and down work, which glass they are made with and where they are used.

Guillotine glass is a glazing system in which aluminium-framed glass panels open and close on the vertical axis, from top to bottom. It takes its name from this movement. In Türkiye it is also called a “movable balustrade” (hareketli küpeşte) or “panorama glass” (panorama cam).
How does it work?
The panels move in rails that run parallel to one another; there is no slipping or sagging as they open and close. The system is built with one fixed panel and one or more moving panels: when the panels are stacked at the bottom, the glass stands at balustrade height; when they are raised, the side is fully closed.
Guillotine glass is motorised. With the motor and remote control, the panels move at the touch of a button and can be stopped at the position you want.
Which glass is it made with?
Single glazing or double glazing can be used. Giyolux guillotine glass systems are made with 6, 8 and 10 mm tempered or laminated glass; the Smart model has a 5 + 9 + 5 mm tempered double glazing option.
Where is it used?
It is used most on the sides of pergolas and bioclimatic pergolas, on restaurant and café terraces, in winter gardens and on balconies. Open, it does not interrupt the view; closed, it keeps the wind and the cold out.
